Whole Wheat Bagels + Topping Variations
I’ve been seeing the “DIY Bagel” trend floating around the internet a ton over the past few months, so naturally, I had to see what all the hype was about.
By now, I’ve made about 4 different batches of these bagels and have experimented with different topping techniques, cooking methods and times, and of course… flavor varieties. :-)
I am happy to announce that I FINALLY got it right!
These bagels are healthy, packed with protein and flavor, and make the perfect breakfast or snack!

INGREDIENTS
This recipe makes 4 Bagels!
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup plain Greek Yogurt
1 Egg white
Everything But The Bagel Seasoning
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt to make self-rising flour. Add in Greek Yogurt and mix well until dough is formed. Divide the dough into 4 balls and roll out each ball into a “rope”. Make each rope into a circle (bagel shape) and pinch the ends together.
Whisk egg whites with a little bit of water to form an egg wash. Brush all sides of each bagel with the egg wash. Another method I found to work well (to get a completely crispy outer shell), is to dunk the bagel into the egg wash to completely coat it
Top bagel with “Everything Bagel Seasoning” or other toppings of choice!
Bake bagels at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes (or until they have a nice baked outer shell). If you wish to brown the tops (I highly recommend) place under the broiler for 2 minutes!

VARIATIONS
In place of “Everything Bagel Seasoning” here are a few other ideas to change things up:
TOP WITH: cinnamon sugar, poppy seeds, sesame seeds, cheese (get creative!)
MIX IN: raisins, chocolate chips, cinnamon berries.
