Another day, another opportunity to bend my body in awkward positions for the sake of a blog post 😜
In all seriousness though, I want to talk to you about the importance of STRETCHING and FLEXIBILITY not just for performance on a yoga mat... but for how it can play a MAJOR role in your OVERALL HEALTH & WELLBEING.
I have SO many conversations with people on a regular basis about physical activity. A common complaint I hear is how the individual is sore, stiff, achy, has back pain, get injured at the gym, etc.
The FIRST question I typically ask is "do you stretch?" 9 out of 10 times the answer is NO.
I get it, YOGA is not for everyone, but you know what IS for everyone? Having a mobile healthy body and a clear mind.
If I had to rank physical activities on an importance scale... STRETCHING would be at the top of my list.
Improves posture and reduces back pain
Reduces stress and calms your mind
Increases blood flow to your muscles (even if you don't workout, this is IMPORTANT)
Increase flexibility and range of motion (obviously!)
I challenge you to take 5 minutes out of your day (as many times as needed) to get up and stretch your body. Don't overcomplicate it, just get up and try it. You may be surprised with how good you feel after!
