How to stay strong when life gets tough.

Win the small battles and you will win the war.

My dad used to tell me this while I was in the depths of my eating disorder.

I wanted recovery more than anything, but every day presented a new set of challenges.

Feeling like I would take 5 steps forward then get thrown 20 steps back became a regular thing. It was heartbreaking, discouraging and it made me just want to give up even trying.

What's the point of trying to work through this if I just continue to undo my progress?

It took me a long time to find my answer to that question. But when I did, it lit a spark in me that still burns to this day.

We are stronger than our struggles. Our hardships do not define us. Our beautiful, imperfect, complicated life is meant to be lived to the fullest every damn day of our lives.

It doesn't matter how many times you have to start over. What matters is that you do.

Taking small strides every day towards becoming our healthiest, happiest most confident versions of ourselves is how we get stronger. Over time these small acts, no matter how insignificant they may seem will add up, build momentum and get you closer to your end goal, no matter what it is.

So no matter who you are, or what you are going through, keep going.

Your efforts will pay off in the long run, you just have to keep fighting.
