Just one moment can change your life

Have you ever had a moment in your life that as soon as it happened, you knew that things would be different from that point on?

Me and my beautiful Godson Giorgio - Taken June 2021

  • A moment that moves you not only emotionally, but one that physically impacts you deep within your soul?

  • A pivotal moment that sheds light on your weaknesses, but also illuminates your potential?

  • The moments that lead to massive transformation?

That moment for me was on January 15, 2021 – the day my Godson Giorgio was welcomed into the world.

My heart was full with pure joy over the arrival of a healthy, perfect new addition to our family. I was overwhelmed with happiness for my sister and brother-in-law for becoming first-time parents. I was excited to think about the memories to be made, the laughs to be shared and the fun to be had… and then my “moment” happened.

Shortly after we received the news I was standing in the shower and I started to cry.

Tears of joy, quickly followed by tears of guilt and shame and deep sadness towards myself.

I was instantly reminded of the reality of my circumstances…

I would never be able to experience the blessing of motherhood for myself if I continued living the way I was. That if I continued to be in denial of the fact that my rigid habits and “healthy lifestyle” keeping Joe and I from something we both wanted for our future someday -  to be able to start a family of our own.

Then it hit me. I was the only one who had the power to change it.

And in that moment I made the decisions that will forever impact how I live.

  • The decision to no longer be a victim of my past.

  • The decision to surrender my fear of change to the opportunities of new beginnings.

  • The decision to detach myself from the identity I had built for myself around my physical appearance.

  • The decision to live for true health and happiness over control and feeding into my insecurities.

It may sound silly that one moment can have such an impact on the way we view ourselves and the way we live. For me, I believe it was years of knowing my reality but being too afraid to do anything about it. Years of living in denial, staying comfortable and settling for less than I deserved.

Remember, our current circumstances don’t get to call the shots for our future. At any point in time, we have the power to rise up against what has been holding us back, to redefine how we live our lives in order to get closer to fulfilling our biggest goals and desires. You just have to decide ❤️
